Seattle Info

Seattle is a diverse and vibrant city that provides the perfect setting for conference attendees to engage in collaborative networking, professional development and academic discourse. Here, you'll find a vibrant, sophisticated metropolis surrounded by pristine natural beauty and abundant recreation. The conference will be hosted in Husky Stadium at the University of Washington campus, located just north of downtown Seattle. Renovated in 2012, Husky Stadium is a unique conference venue that will be undoubtedly enjoyable for coaches, researchers and practitioners alike. The UW campus, located adjacent to the stadium, is home to more than 45,000 students and has beautiful grounds to explore. The University was recently ranked #14 globally as one of the best universities in the world by U.S. News and World Report!

We also encourage you to make a visit to downtown Seattle, a pedestrian-friendly city waiting to be explored. The city is surrounded by multiple waterways, two mountain ranges and three national parks that allow conference attendees to walk, hike, paddle, jog or bike their way through Seattle. The waterfront, retail shopping district, Pike Place Market and other culinary treats are only steps away. In addition to the University of Washington Huskies, the city is also home to the Seattle Storm, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Reign FC, Seattle University Red Hawks and the Seattle Pacific University Falcons. We hope you get the opportunity to check out the rich athletic community that Seattle has to offer. For those interested in extending their trip, to the west lies the only temperate rain forest in the continental U.S. and to the east, a world-class wine region. Vancouver, British Columbia is 2.5 hours north via car or train, and Portland, Oregon can be reached in only 3 hours to the south.

Transportation

Air Travel

Conference attendees should make arrangements to fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), located 15 miles south of downtown Seattle. Sea-Tac is served by more than 27 airlines.

Ground Travel

The Link Light Rail is the most economical choice to get from Sea-Tac to downtown or the university district. Link trains run every 7-15 minutes depending on the time of day; fares range from $2.25-3.00 one way. The train ride is approximately 35 minutes to downtown Seattle. A brand-new station at the University of Washington, next to Husky Stadium, is due to be completed by early 2016. From the University of Washington Link Station, you can arrange to have the complimentary Silver Cloud shuttle pick you up for the one mile ride to the hotel; stroll down the Burke-Gilman Trail if you are light on luggage. For Light Rail schedules and additional information, visit the Sound Transit Link Light Rail page.

If you would prefer to be dropped off directly at your hotel, both shuttles and taxis operate out of Sea-Tac airport. The Downtown Airporter (and other options) from Shuttle Express can be booked online. Taxis can be found outside of baggage claim and will cost you approximately $40 one way to downtown Seattle.

Entering Husky Stadium

The conference will take place in Club Husky, located on the south end of Husky Stadium. To enter the building, look for the UW Medicine Sports Medicine entrance on the south side of the stadium and take the elevators up to Club Husky. This entrance is located near the Link Light Rail train station.

Parking

Should you choose to drive to the conference, parking at the Silver Cloud is complimentary for guests.
