Frequently Asked Questions

What is a health. moves. minds.®, powered by Booster fundraiser?

A health. moves. minds., powered by Booster fundraiser brings together SHAPE America’s standards-based lessons and activities and Booster’s powerful online fundraising platform and fundraising expertise. It involves students participating in physical activities, such as running or exercise challenges, to raise funds for school-wide projects and initiatives, as well as health and wellness-related programming (e.g., your physical education program!). How will my school benefit from health. moves. minds.?

Schools that participate in a health. moves. minds. fundraiser receive at least 50% of funds raised (deposited in school bank account) for school-wide projects and initiatives. In addition, the health and/or physical education teacher leading the fundraiser receives 5% of funds raised in the form of a Gopher gift card PLUS a bonus $250 match — courtesy of Booster — added to their gift card. Additional perks are also provided for participating schools, teachers and students.

The health. moves. minds. activities are appropriate for students in grades K-12. All activities included with a fundraiser can be adapted to fit the physical and cognitive abilities of students across all grade levels, making them inclusive and engaging for everyone.

When is the best time to register my school for a health. moves. minds. fundraiser?

The best time to register your school is at the beginning of the school year. Ideally, we recommend registering approximately three months before you plan on implementing your fundraiser so you can provide ample notice to administrators, colleagues and parents, and so you have the event on the school calendar (to not conflict with another fundraising event at your school). Our team requires a minimum of 4-6 weeks to set up your program before kickoff. Please note that all fundraising events must conclude (all funds received) no later than June 30 annually.

What learning opportunities are included in a health. moves. minds. fundraiser?

The health. moves. minds. lessons and activities, complemented by Booster’s Character Development resources, provide valuable learning opportunities for students at all grade levels. Participants develop goal-setting, perseverance and teamwork skills as they collaborate on fundraising goals. Furthermore, students learn about the impact of community support on achieving common objectives, contributing to their overall personal and social development. Your students will be inspired to learn healthy habits that help them thrive physically and emotionally!

What else should we include in our health. moves. minds. event day besides physical activity?

Enhance your health. moves. minds. event day by including elements such as healthy snacks to promote well-being, kindness challenges or stations to remind students of the importance of treating others with respect and showing gratitude. We suggest encouraging family participation for a sense of community, organizing raffles for excitement, and providing concessions to add a festive atmosphere, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for participants and supporters alike.
