Call for Proposals

The 2024 SHAPE America Summer Institute is a specially designed, thematic professional development experience that will equip health and physical educators with the skills and strategies needed to teach students in a rapidly changing world. This two-day event will take place on July 29-30 in Minneapolis.

SHAPE America is looking for exceptional proposals that will be presented through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens on the following topics: educational technology, emerging topics in HPE, and student-centered learning and engagement.

By submitting a proposal, you will play a critical role in shaping a program that will prepare, motivate and reinforce the health and physical education profession to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.

Submission Instructions

To submit your session, please complete the following steps and reference the additional guidance documents available on this page.

Read the Presenters Agreement and ensure all presenters read and agree prior to listing them on the session proposal.

Review the submission categories below to ensure that you’ve identified the appropriate category for your presentation:

  • Educational Technology
    Learn directly from fellow educators on the latest ed tech innovations that are shaping the health and physical education landscape. Plus, learn best practices and current trends to leverage educational technology resources. Sessions may include topics such as artificial intelligence, interactive technology, instructional apps, physical activity monitoring tools and more!
  • Emerging Topics in HPE
    Emerging topics will introduce attendees to significant and rapidly emerging needs and trends within the community. Participants will dive into hot topics, collaborate with peers, and consider how to implement their new learning into instruction.
  • Student-Centered Learning and Engagement
    Student-centered learning and engagement requires individualization, interaction, and integration to create an empowering learning experience for all students. Sessions may include topics such as culturally responsive instruction, increasing student engagement, tactics to promote student voice and ownership, and restorative practices in the classroom.
