Be a Part of the Action at #SHAPECharlotte!
We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring #SHAPECharlotte to life! It takes a passionate crew to power an event of this size — and each year, we rely on 100+ volunteers to make it all happen. Now’s your chance to be part of the energy, the excitement, and the impact!

Why Volunteer?
Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet and network with other attendees. PLUS, #SHAPECharlotte volunteers get exclusive perks!
In exchange for serving six (4) volunteer hours before, during, and/or after the event (during self-selected timeslots from April 6 – 10, 2027), individuals selected as volunteers will receive:
- Receive $100 off a full convention Professional registration or $80 off a full convention Student registration. Volunteer discounts may only be applied to full convention registrations and cannot be applied to one-day registrations.
- A free #SHAPECharlotte volunteer T-shirt;
- $10 merchandise voucher to use at the SHAPE America exhibit booth; and
- One complimentary drink ticket for the Thursday evening social event.
Volunteer Roles
Based on your time availability, SHAPE America staff will assign you to one or more of the following volunteer roles:
- Session Room Monitor: Greeting speakers, ensuring AV/equipment is set, reporting any issues to SHAPE America staff, and providing an estimated attendance for assigned rooms/sessions.
- Equipment Room Assistant: Organizing, delivering and retrieving activity equipment for all activity sessions.
- Session Materials Prep: Stuffing attendee bags with inserts, ensuring all handouts are dropped on seats at major events like the General Session, lectures, etc.
- Attendee Greeter, Registration, and Express Badge Pick-Up Assistant: Help create a welcoming first impression by greeting and directing attendees as they arrive at the convention center and assisting them with check-in and badge pick-up.
- SHAPE America Booth Assistant: Help organize, restock, and process transactions at the SHAPE America store in the exhibit hall.
Fill Out an Interest Form
If you are interested in volunteering at #SHAPECharlotte, fill out the appropriate interest form. Volunteer opportunities are limited — so don’t wait!
University faculty members interested in bringing a group of students are encouraged to submit the group volunteer interest form below.
The SHAPE America convention team will reach out to selected individuals/groups regarding available opportunities by no later than February 17, 2027. All participants will receive follow-up regardless of selection status. We select volunteers on a rolling basis, with the notification process beginning in February.
While we appreciate everyone’s interest in helping to ensure the success of #SHAPECharlotte, priority will be given to college and university students as well as early-career professionals who are eager to get involved, build connections, and grow professionally. Attendees affiliated with our state partner, NC SHAPE, will also be guaranteed dedicated volunteer slots.
Individuals who do not fall within these designated categories may still be considered to fulfill additional volunteer needs as they arise, so please complete the form if you are interested!
